Mr. McGurk is the founder and managing member of McGurk IP.  His practice focuses on all facets of Intellectual Property Law.   Mr. McGurk combines Patent and Intellectual Property experience with an extensive business background to provide his clients with a business-focused approach to protecting and leveraging their Intellectual Property.  As an attorney, Mr. McGurk has worked with independent inventors and entrepreneurs, as well as mid-sized, large and multi-national corporations to address their intellectual property needs.

As a registered patent attorney, Mr. McGurk has prepared and prosecuted numerous U.S. and foreign patent applications on a wide variety of technologies from chemicals to consumer products, mechanical processes to medical devices, software to sporting goods, and more.  He has prepared opinions on a variety of intellectual property issues and negotiated a broad array of domestic and international transactions.

Mr. McGurk has been a presenter at a variety of government, academic, commercial, and legal sponsored programs throughout the country and abroad on subjects including patent law, engineering, government regulations, and technology.

Prior to founding McGurk IP , Mr. McGurk served in various technical, legal, and executive roles in the chemical and energy industries, as well as having worked several years in private practice as a patent attorney for both Middleton Reutlinger and Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, LLP.

Mr. McGurk holds a J.D. from Washington University, School of Law, a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kentucky, College of Engineering, and a B.A. from Vanderbilt University.

Mr. McGurk is admitted to practice in Georgia, Kentucky, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Intellectual Property Section of the State Bar of Georgia.
